AIMO was founded by Bharat Ratna Sir. M. Visvesvaraya in 1941. The organization has established itself as a body committed to industrial progress with the motto “Prosperity through Industry” and over the past few decades it has been consistently supportive of several initiatives of the Government of India and Government of Tamil Nadu aimed at accelerating industrial growth in the state.

AIMO has been recognized by Government of India as an apex organization of Industry and given representation on most of the policy making bodies of the central and state governments.

AIMO has been instrumental in creating an environment for co-operation between Government and Industry, in promoting and co-ordinating industrial and economic growth, and has worked for servicing trade and industry and the community.

Members of AIMO are drawn from Small, Medium and Large scale industries with diverse interests. With Head Quarters in Mumbai, AIMO has State / Regional level boards elected annually supported by secretariats at HO and State boards.

Membership of AIMO is open to Manufacturing Firms, Companies, Industry, Associations and Individual Professionals.

AIMO-TNSB, the Tamilnadu State Board has always been involved in organizing various exhibitions / expo, seminars / training Programs/ Interaction Meetings -Targeting for better Industrial growth or socially oriented activity or increasing productivity and causing benefits to the members as well as non member Industrial Units.

AIMO-TNSB has a state of art air conditioned seminar Hall which can accommodate 50 persons and a board room accommodating 12 persons. These facilities are available for Members at subsidized rates.
